Congratulations to Dr. Keeler on her recent publication in JNPD

Congratulations to Dr. Heidi Keeler for co-authoring the journal article “Setting the Standard for Competency-Based Preceptor Evaluation” in the November/December edition of the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development.  The article highlights the psychometric testing of the Association of Nursing Professional Development Preceptor Assessment Tool. The tool, based on the Ulrich Precepting Model, will be used to fill the growing need for standardized evaluation of preceptor competence in healthcare and academic settings using a 360 approach. This evidence-based tool is valid, and reliable, allowing for both self-evaluation by preceptors and evaluation by other stakeholders. It aims to improve preceptor programs and meet accreditation requirements for transition-to-practice initiatives, ensuring consistent and effective preceptor performance across organizations. MCIRN is currently using this tool to evaluate our 12-week hybrid Advanced Preceptor Fellowship program. It aims to identify if the fellowship content is advancing preceptor competency within our learners.
