On August 26th, 2025, Midwest Clinical Instruction Regional Network (MCIRN) hosted our first Process Precept class in Iowa. The class was held in Denison, Iowa. Dr. Heidi Keeler PhD, MSN/MBA, RN Associate Professor at University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing and Executive Director, Continuing interProfessional Development and Innovation and Kealy Schreiber BSN, RN, NPD-BC Clinical Quality Nurse Leader at Nebraska Medicine presented Process Precept to leaders, educators and nurse preceptors. They learned nationally recognized best practice models to examine the roles critical to successful preceptorship in nursing. Real life scenarios were used to introduce roles and competencies necessary to precept student nurses or new nurses. Discussion was used to better understand application in real world situations with hands-on activities that can be used in the clinical setting. Thanks to Crawford County Memorial Hospital for working with MCIRN to introduce Process Precept to Iowa nurses.
