We are excited to announce the MCIRN Process Precept Bridge Course, a concise, online training course designed for preceptors who have completed preceptor training in the past but need to bridge the gap of knowledge related to roles and competencies of the preceptor and introduce preceptors to professional identity.
By the end of the program, trainees will be able to:
- Describe nationally recognized best practice preceptor models and roles.
- Discuss professional identity in relation to preceptor practice.
- Relate preceptor roles and competencies into clinical practice
The course will be available until December 31, 2026, and offers 2.0 continuing education hours upon successful completion.

The Bridge course is for if you have completed previous preceptor training with the Missouri Hospital Association, Kansas Hospital Association, University of Iowa or Faith Regional Health prior to 2025.

Requirements:
- Must have completed nurse preceptor training.
- Missouri Hospital Association Preceptor Academy prior to April 2025
- Kansas Hospital Association Preceptor Academy prior to April 2025
- University of Iowa Advanced Preceptor Education prior to October 2025
- Faith Regional Health Services Preceptor Education prior to 2025
- Must work in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri or Nebraska.

How do I register?
Go to the Online Ed. Page on the MCIRN website. Select Process Precept Bridge. Complete application form. Once we have received the application information, you will receive log in information on how to access the materials.
What if I am selected and I do not complete the content?
There is no penalty for not completing the content. However, you must complete all the required content to receive any continuing education hours.
What do I need to do to access the Bridge Course materials?
You will need to have access to a computer and browser that can access the MCIRN Process Precept Bridge Course learning platform, as well as the internet.
Will I receive CEs?
Yes, this course will provide up to 2.0 continuing education hours.
What if I haven’t completed the MCIRN Process Precept live course?
As long as you have received formal preceptor training, you will qualify for the MCIRN Process Precept Bridge course. You must be able to identify the preceptor class and date when you attended.
