We are excited to announce the MCIRN Advanced Preceptor Fellowship, an interactive online training program designed for preceptors.
Building upon the concepts from our MCIRN Process Precept live training of preceptor basics, this course places preceptors within various situations and asks the preceptor to use concepts learned to address each scenario. Evidence based content and expert review accompanies each scenario.  
By the end of the fellowship, trainees will be able to: 
  • Apply evidence-based strategies to clinical challenges when precepting, grounded in the Ulrich Model and aligned with ANPD competencies
  • Demonstrate enhanced communication and leadership skills in clinical and precepting settings, derived by practical scenarios and real-world challenges.
  • Articulate the evolution of your professional identity as a preceptor by reflecting on your integration of the Ulrich roles – Role Model, Teacher/Coach, Facilitator, Protector, Socialization Agent, Leader/Influencer, Evaluator – within your approach to team collaboration and precepting practice
This fellowship will run from September 8 to November 28 and offers a stipend of $3,500 upon successful completion. 
Duration: 35 hours total (see below for more information) 
Cohort 2 Start Date: September 8 
Cohort 2 End Date: – November 28 
Format: Online, interactive material consisting of:  
  • Preceptor self-assessments

  • Concept reviews

  • Case presentations

  • Expert review

  • Concept recaps

  • Deeper dives

  • Self-Reflection exercises

  • Application project

This fellowship is ideal for seasoned preceptors looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in advanced clinical education. Participants will engage in dynamic learning experiences, including case studies, simulations, and peer discussions.

NOTE: There will be two online sessions that you must attend in order to complete the fellowship. You will need to be available for and sign up to attend one of the dates and times for both live sessions:
Live Session 1: Tuesday, October 7th at 9:00AM or 12:00PM or Thursday October 9th at 9:00AM or 12:00PM
Live Session 2: Monday November 3rd at 9:00AM or 12:00PM or Wednesday November 5th at 9:00AM or 12:00PM

How do I apply?
Go to our website at MCIRN.com/fellowship and complete our application form. If selected, you will be notified. The MCIRN Preceptor Fellowship will begin on September 8, 2025.
There is no penalty for not completing the content. However, you must complete all the required content to receive any contact hours or the stipend payment.
You will need to have access to a computer and browser that can access MCIRN Preceptor Fellowship learning platform, as well as internet to support 2 live online meetings, 2 evaluation sites, and a word processor to complete written project work.

Yes, this course will provide up to 29 contact hours. An additional six hours would have been claimed by attending the MCIRN Process Precept content prior to accepting this Fellowship.

You must have already completed MCIRN Process Precept to qualify for fellowship program. In the future, there will be either online MCIRN Process Precept opportunities or options for those who have completed am MCIRN approved preceptor training program.
